Up to 25 3D World Cup Matches
Fifa has announced that up to 25 3D World Cup matches. We know as of now that the first game between South Africa and Mexico will be in 3D, but we do not know which other games will be filmed in 3D.
There was a press release from Fifa that stated that the Fifa World Cup 2010 will have at least 25 matches filmed in 3D, but it also went on to say that Sony will produce and distribute the 3D film after the world cup. This means that although there could be 25 games filmed in 3D there may be very few games that are actually broadcast on ESPN 3D.
Our ears are open, and when we hear anything we will post back here. We expect to get some announcements of ESPN 3D distribution deals somewhat shortly, so stay tuned.
***UPDATE 3/29/2010*** ESPN 3D has signed the deal with DIRECTV and they will broadcast all 25 games that will be produced in 3D at no additional cost to HD subscribers.
